Caption: Cosmonaut Leonov in training. Soviet cosmonaut Aleksei Leonov (b. 1934) climbing into a centrifugal cabin during training for the Voskhod 2 mission. Aleksei Arkhipovich Leonov flew on the Voskhod 2 mission with Pavel Ivanovich Belyayev, from 18-19th March 1965. During this flight, Leonov became the first person to make a space walk. Belyayev never flew into space again, but Leonov was part of the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz Test project where Russian and American spacecraft docked in orbit. Photographed in 1964.
