Caption: Liger in a zoo. Ligers are a hybrid cross between a male lion (Panthera leo) and a female tiger (tigress, Panthera tigris). They tend to grow larger than either of the parent species, making them the largest of all known extant felines. However, they only exist in captivity because the habitats of the parental species do not overlap in the wild. Photographed at Novosibirsk Zoo, Russia.
