Caption: Young Aleksei Leonov. Portrait of Aleksei Arkhipovich Leonov (b. 1934, centre) when he was 18-years-old with his brother Peter Leonov (left). Leonov went on to become a cosmonaut. He flew on the Voskhod 2 mission with Pavel Ivanovich Belyayev, from 18-19th March 1965. During this flight, Leonov became the first person to make a space walk. Belyayev never flew into space again, but Leonov was part of the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz Test project where Russian and American spacecraft docked in orbit. Leonov later became Air Force Major General. Photographed in Kaliningrad, Russia, in 1952.
