Caption: Artwork by cosmonaut Aleksei Leonov. Painting of the Soyuz and Apollo spaceships docked during the Apollo-Soyuz Test project by the Soviet cosmonaut Aleksei Arkhipovich Leonov (b. 1934). Leonov flew on the Voskhod 2 mission with Pavel Ivanovich Belyayev, from 18-19th March 1965, during which he became the first person to make a space walk. He was also part of the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz Test project. A joint project in July 1975 between the USA and the USSR where Russian and American spacecrafts docked in orbit to test a jointly-designed international docking mechanism.
