Caption: Animation of a fly-by of Titan, the largest moon of Saturn, and the planet itself. Titan is the second largest moon in the Solar System, more than 5000 kilometres in diameter. It is the only moon with a dense atmosphere, composed largely of nitrogen, and it is the only body other than Earth with liquid on its surface, in the form of lakes of methane, ethane and other hydrocarbons. Titan orbits some 1.2 million kilometres from Saturn. Saturn is the second largest planet in the Solar System, with a diameter of 121,000 kilometres, and has the most extensive ring system, which are about three times wider than the planet itself. The rings are composed of billions of small particles, mostly of water ice. Saturn orbits the Sun at a distance of around 1.5 billion kilometres.
