Caption: Common blue butterfly (Polyommatus icarus) feeding on a birdsfoot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus) flower. Male uppersides are an iridescent lilac blue with a thin black border. Females are usually brown with a row of red spots along the edges and some blue at the base of the wings. Photographed in the UK, in August.
