Caption: Spektr-R space telescope launch. Zenit-3SLBF rocket carrying the Spektr-R space telescope, being launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan. Spektr-R, part of the Radioastron programme, was launched on 18th July 2011 and is studying objects in radio wavelengths with a resolution far higher than previous telescopes. This high resolution is achieved by combining orbital observations with ground-based telescopes and using interferometry methods. Photographed on 16th July 2011.
