Caption: Black grouse (Tetrao tetrix) female. The black grouse is a gamebird found in bogs and on moorland across northern Eurasia. The female (hen) is also called the greyhen, as its grey plumage distinguishes it from the black plumage of the male (blackcock). In the background is the mountain Lochnagar (1155 metres). Photographed in March, in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland.
