Caption: Brattain and Bardeen. Portrait of the US physicists Walter Houser Brattain (1902-1987, left) and John Bardeen (1908-1991) whilst playing golf together. These two men are best known for inventing the transistor along with William Shockley, and they shared the 1956 Nobel Prize in Physics for their invention.
