Caption: Galileo in-orbit test (IOT) radio antenna. This antenna is used for communication with the in-orbit validation (IOV) Galileo satellites and is part of the test system for the European Space Agency's Galileo navigation system. Galileo will consist of 30 satellites orbiting over 23,000 kilometres above the Earth, transmitting data for position (longitude and latitude) and height above sea level (elevation). Four IOV satellites will be launched. They will validate the design of the satellites and the ground segments of the network. Photographed at the Redu ESTRACK radio antenna station, Belgium.
