Caption: Edoardo Amaldi ATV (automated transfer vehicle) launch. Ariane 5 rocket being moved onto its launch pad. It is carrying the Edoardo Amaldi ATV, an unmanned spacecraft that is on a mission to supply propellant, water, air and dry cargo to the International Space Station (ISS). The ATV was launched on 23rd March 2012 and docked with the ISS on 28th March. On the 25th September, after being loaded with waste, it will separate and de-orbit, burning up in the Earth's atmosphere. Photographed on 21st March 2012 at the Guiana Space Centre, Kourou, French Guiana.
