Caption: World War I first-aid station. Artwork showing stretcher-bearers and wounded soldiers arriving at a first-aid station during the First World War (1914-1918). This painting, signed and dated 1927, is by the French artist Lucien Jonas (1880-1947). Jonas served as an official war artist, producing thousands of works during and after the war, of scenes from the trenches and battlefields of the Western Front.
