David Lordkipanidze (born 1963). Portrait of the Georgian anthropologist and archaeologist, David Lordkipanidze. Lordkipanidze is best known for his discovery of the fossilised remains of the hominin Homo erectus georgicus, a subspecies of Homo erectus. H. erectus is an extinct species of hominid that lived from the end of the Pliocene epoch to the later Pleistocene. Photographed in 2009.
