The Mechta-Afalou people were a form of early humans (Homo sapiens) that inhabited northern Africa. In the background is a Cro-Magnon man, a form of early modern humans (Homo sapiens sapiens) that inhabited Europe from around 35,000 years ago. Reconstructions by the Daynes Studio, Paris, France.
