Vapour trails. An American F-15 fighter aircraft in a tight turn leaves vapour trails in its wake. These trails are created when humid air enters the vortex shed from each wingtip. Due to the lower air pressure and temperature inside the vortex, water vapour condenses into cloud-like droplets. A similar effect creates the cloud-like haze over the top of the wings as they generate large amounts of lift. Photographed at the MAKS 2011 airshow at Zhukovsky near Moscow, Russia.
