Ion channels are membrane-spanning proteins that form a pathway for the movement of inorganic ions across cell membranes. This is the coiled tetramerization domain from Kv7.4 channels. The family of Kv7.x (KCNQ) voltage-gated potassium channels form cardiac, auditory and neuronal currents. There are five subtypes, of which this is the fourth (KQT member 4). Kv7 subfamily mutations play a role in human conditions such as arrhythmias, deafness, and epilepsy.
