Caption: COPD research. Maximum inspiratory pressure being measured for a study being carried out into chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Participants had changes in various respiratory values and blood oxygen levels monitored, both while resting and while exercising. The measuring device here is a MicroRPM, a Respiratory Pressure Meter. It records Maximum Inspiratory Pressure (MIP, shown here) Maximum Expiratory Pressure (MEP) and Sniff Nasal Inspiratory Pressure (SNIP). The MIP value here is 96 in units of cm H2O (centimetres of water pressure). The normal MIP value is around 70 cm H2O.
