Caption: Ash trees (Fagus sylvatica) in the gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society at Harlow Carr, Harrogate, UK. The grounds of Harlow Carr gardens occupy the site of an ancient royal hunting ground where sulphur springs were discovered in the 18th century. Later development resulted in the site becoming a plant development facility for the Northern Horticultural Society, which eventually merged with the Royal Horticultural Society. Photographed in June 2011, prior to the outbreak in the UK of ash dieback fungus, Chalara fraxinea.
