Caption: Face and neck nerves. Head and neck dissected to show the superficial nerves (white). The parotid gland (normally present below the ear) has been removed to show the division of the branches of the facial nerve. Some blood vessels (red) and muscles (orange) are also shown. This anatomical artwork is plate 180 from volume 3 of 'Manuel d'anatomie descriptive du corps humain' (1825). This 5-volume anatomy atlas was produced by French physician and surgeon Jules Germain Cloquet (1790-1883). The illustrations were by Haincelin. Volume 3 illustrated the anatomy of the human nervous system.
