Caption: Lower leg arteries. Anterior (frontal) view of the arteries (red) and muscles and ligaments of the lower leg and foot. At left are the superficial arteries. At left is the anterior tibial artery and its branches. The inset (centre) shows the arteries and ligaments of the upper and external surfaces of the foot. This anatomical artwork is plate 238 from volume 4 of 'Manuel d'anatomie descriptive du corps humain' (1825). This 5-volume anatomy atlas was produced by French physician and surgeon Jules Germain Cloquet (1790-1883). The illustrations were by Haincelin. Volume 4 illustrated the anatomy of the circulatory and respiratory systems.
