Caption: Close-up of a female spotted coral crab (Trapezia rufopunctata) carrying her brood of developing eggs (orange). She is resting within the branches of a hard coral. To keep the eggs well oxygenated, she regularly moves her abdomen and wafts them with fresh oxygenated water. The spotted coral crab lives in association with hard corals, feeding on their tissues and mucus and protecting them from more dangerous predators. It is found in coral reefs in the tropical Indo-Pacific region.
