Caption: White rhinoceros killed by poachers, Umhlametsi Private Nature Reserve, South Africa. A Protrack ranger inspects a dead bull white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum). The animal was shot by poachers who lost track of it when it ran away. It eventually died of its wounds before being discovered by park rangers. Rhinoceros horns are illegally poached and sold for use as ornaments and traditional medicines. Protrack is a private anti-poaching company.
