Caption: Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring results over a 24-hour period. This allows regular measurement of a patient's blood pressure, avoiding the effect where blood pressure rises when measured in a clinical setting. The blue shaded area is the night period. The average readings are given at lower centre. A typical healthy reading is 120/80 millimetres of mercury (mmHg). The abbreviations are BP (blood pressure), Sys (systolic pressure, upper red line), Dia (diastolic pressure, lower red line), HR (heart rate), MAP (mean arterial pressure) and PP (pulse pressure). The pulse in beats per minute (bpm) is the lower grey line.
