A planetary nebula is a series of shells of gas cast off by a dying star, with these gas shells glowing as they impact the surrounding medium. NGC 5198 is 3000 light years from Earth, in the constellation of Musca. Image data obtained with the HST's Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) instrument. Image published in 2012.
