Caption: Bunsen flame. The head of a match, suspended in the neck of a Bunsen burner, fails to ignite. The methane/air mixture in the region of the match head is at too low a temperature to burn or to ignite the match. The highest temperature in the flame is found at the top of the blue cone, just below the point where the flame burns yellow.
