Caption: Ligress. A female liger (ligress) seen at a zoo. A liger is a hybrid cross between a male lion (Panthera leo) and a female tiger (Panthera tigris). The largest of all known felines, tigons enjoy swimming like tigers and are sociable like lions. This ligress, having bred with a lion, gave birth to the first known 'liligon' in 2012. Photographed at Novosibirsk Zoo, Russia.
