Caption: Inflamed fallopian tube. Light micrograph of a section through a fallopian tube (oviduct) in a condition known as salpingitis isthmica nodosa. This is a nodular thickening of the narrowest portion of the fallopian tube due to inflammation, most commonly from an infection. It can lead to the complete blockage of the fallopian tube and therefore is a cause of infertility.
