The EF-5-class 3 kilometre- (2 mile)-wide tornado spent 40 minutes on the ground in Moore, a suburb of Oklahoma City, killing at least 24 people, many of them children sheltering in an elementary school. This visualization was created by the NASA GOES Project at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, using observations from NOAA's GOES-13 satellite. Mastered from original, duration 00:00:24:00, 2 fps.
