Caption: Offshore wind turbines rotating in the breeze. The wind over the sea is typically significantly stronger than wind over land, so offshore turbines can produce power more reliably than their land-based equivalents, and the negative visual and noise effects are reduced also. These turbines are at the Scroby Sands Wind Farm, off the coast of Norfolk, UK. Each turbine has a capacity of two megawatts, and the farm has thirty turbines in total, providing 60 megawatts of energy, enough for some 41,000 homes.
