Caption: Central dogma of molecular biology. Animation showing how genetic information flows from DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid, top) to RNA (ribonucleic acid, centre) to protein (bottom). Sections of DNA, known as genes, are converted to complimentary RNA in a process known as transcription. The RNA sequence encodes the sequence of amino acids that make up a protein. The process of building the amino acid chain from the RNA template is known as translation. Once the amino acid chain is complete, it folds to form the finished protein.
