Caption: Garden tools. 17th-century artwork of various garden tools, including knives, an axe, a scythe, a watering can, a ladder, glass cloches (to shield plants) and wheelbarrows. Artwork from 'Elysium Britannicum', a work begun in the 1650s by English writer, gardener and diarist John Evelyn (1620-1706). The manuscript of this work, unfinished at the time of his death, is now held by the British Library.
