Caption: Galleon sailing to Portugal. 16th-century artwork of the galleon 'St Martin' sailing to Portugal. The ship is armed with cannon, with sea monsters depicted in the water. This artwork is from a volume of memoirs of the Coeler family of Nuremberg, Germany. The memoirs include accounts of journeys undertaken by different members of the family. This artwork is from Jerome Coeler's account of his travels in 1533 and 1534.
