Caption: This sagittal (from the side), T1 weighted MRI image demonstrates a severe degree of epidural lipomatosis within the lumbar spinal canal. It is seen as the homogenously white tissue in the back (to the right) of the spinal canal most severe from L2 TO L4/5. This is causing significant compression of the thecal sac containing the nerve roots of the cauda equina and causing symptoms of spinal stenosis and radiculopathy.
