Caption: G nther's Boafish, Stomias affinis, is a dragonfish. A barbel extends from the lower jaw of the fish with a bioluminescent lure attached to the end. The lure is used to draw in prey items, close to the tooth- filled mouth. Anything that comes in too close is dinner. This individual was captured between the surface and 650 meters depth in the Gulf of Mexico, 2011.
