Michael, illustrated the serialisation in 'The Pall Mall Magazine' of 'The War in the Air' (1908) by British science fiction writer Herbert George Wells (H. G. Wells, 1866-1946). In this novel, fleets of airships wage worldwide war and cause the collapse of civilisation.
