Caption: Carbon film resistors. A resistor is a passive component used to control current in a circuit. The coloured bands on the resistors represents the voltage and tolerance of each resistor. Each colour stands for a number, three bands show the resistors value in ohms and the fourth shows its tolerance. The resistor at left is 470k ohms, the middle one is 4.7k ohms, and the one at the bottom is 2.2k ohms.
