Caption: Constantijn Huygens's knighthood. Official document admitting Dutch poet and composer Constantijn Huygens (1596-1687) into the order of knighthood in 1622. The document is in Latin and signed by James I of England (VI of Scotland), with the royal seal attached. In 1630, Huygens bought a Dutch estate and became known as Heer van Zuyliehem (Lord of Zuilichem). In France, he was made a knight of the Order of Saint-Michel in 1632.
