Caption: Jerome Coeler the Elder of Nuremberg (died 1573), German judge, with his horoscope. This portrait is dated 1565 with the numerals of the year split between the base of the pillars. The German text at lower centre gives the Latin form of his name, his occupation as 'Stadtrichter' (municipal judge), and his death date of 31 January 1573. This artwork is from a volume of memoirs of the Coeler family, containing accounts of journeys undertaken by different members of the family.
