Caption: Two concave mirrors for dental hygiene, one is made from ivory and the other from wood. The nineteenth century was a period of rapid progression in the field of dentistry and dental hygiene, it saw the first publication of the British Dental Journal (1843) and the opening of the first dental schools in Britain (1859). These dental mirrors are English and date from around 1870.
