Caption: Bellanca Especial aeroplane. This aircraft, designated job number 114, is a high-wing monoplane. It was designed by Italian-US aircraft engineer Giuseppe Mario Bellanca (1886-1960). He developed his first designs in Italy, emigrating to the USA in 1911 and founding a flying school in New York City. Bellanca founded the Bellanca Aircraft Company in 1927. This aeroplane was flown by pilot Shirley J. Short (died 1930) in October 1928. Photographed in 1928.
