Caption: A pretty lady in a Circassian dress of puce Italian gauze, with a skirt in the same gauze over another pink silk skirt, ornamented with puffed gauze and blue ribbon attached by flowers and tassels, with net sleeves. The shell hat is decorated with flowers and feathers.The frogging on the bodice is called Brandenburg. The aerial dresses can only be worn when the weather is hot, as one cannot add a mantle or scarf. Some elegant ladies wear a gold cord over the open corsage. The shell of Venus chariot hat is edged with a ribbon the same colour as the dress, ornamented with sprays of roses.
