Under this is worn a vest of silk. He wears a felt cap. From the girdle on the right side hangs a flint and steel, and knife sheath; on the left, purses for tobacco, or snuff. He carries a box containing sweetmeats, a token of his regard for the Embasssy. The background is a scene at Macao. Image taken from The Costume of China.
