Caption: Portrait of a Lama, or Bonze, This figure is described as one of the Lamas inhabiting a temple called Poo-ta-la, situated near the imperial residence at Zhe-hol in Tartary. The priest is clad in the royal colour, yellow, and holds a wide brimmed hat made of straw and split bamboo. Image taken from The Costume of China. Illustrated in forty-eight coloured engravings.
