Caption: Pewter 'bubby pot' or baby feeder dating from the late eighteenth century, England. These pots were filled with liquid food or 'pap' (usually a combination of milk, bread, flour and sugar) which the infant could suck through the 'teat'. This was supplementary to breast feeding.
