Caption: Sabalites palm tree fossil. Block of sandstone containing a fossilised specimen of a leafy part of the palm tree Sabalites primaeva. This specimen dates from around 5 million years ago during the Pliocene. The block is Landenian sandstone, northern France, and measures 30 by 33 centimetres. It is part of the Depape collection of the Science Faculty at Lille Catholic University, Lille, France.
