Caption: View of a 6-pounder cannon of the field artillery in the army of the German Confederation in 1842. The 6-pounder (the weight of the iron shot it fired) was classed as medium artillery, a compromise between the destructiveness of the shot and mobility across country. The overhead view shows the gun carriage attached to a horse-drawn limber. (Zeichnungen des Konigl. Preussischen Artillerie-Materials, etc. BERGER, Zeichner der Koniglichen Inspektion der Artillerie-Werkstatten.) Berlin, 1856-60. Author Berger.
