Caption: Total lunar eclipse. Composite sequence of the Moon before, during and after a total lunar eclipse. This event occurs when the Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon. The orange colour of the Moon is due to shorter wavelengths, such as blue light, being scattered more in Earth's atmosphere than longer wavelengths, such as red light. Photographed from Spain on 3 March 2007.
