Caption: Computer hard disc arm. Close-up of an actuator arm from a computer's hard drive. Hard drives are used to read and store data. This arm moves the disc's four anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) read-write heads over the two disc platters. The discs are coated on both sides with a magnetic material that transforms the disc's magnetic field into an electrical current when reading the disk, and turns the electrical current into a magnetic field when writing to the disk.
