Caption: Louise Ann Dolan (born 1950), US particle physicist. Dolan's research involves mathematical and theoretical particle physics, including cosmological theories regarding the early universe. She is considered one of the founders of superstring theory. Her awards include the American Physical Society's Maria Goeppert-Mayer Award (1987). The award was for work on 'the theory of elementary particles, particularly for the identification and study of Kac-Moody algebras and their applications to Yang-Mills fields and relativistic string theory'. Since 1990, she has worked at the University of North Carolina, USA.
