Caption: Male common stonechat, or European Stonechat (Saxicola rubicola). This small songbird gets its name from its call, which sounds like two stones being knocked together. It lives in open heathland, swooping down from a vantage point to take insects on the ground or sometimes in the air. It nests on or near to the ground. This bird is found throughout Europe, in the Middle East and in southern and eastern Africa.
